Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG)

WomenCan fundraises for ANZGOG, the peak national gynaecological cancer research organisation for Australia and New Zealand. Through the Team Teal initiative, WomenCan, together with the harness racing community, raises awareness and much needed funds for the following ANZGOG programs:

•              Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives brings the faces and voices of ovarian cancer survivors and carers into the classrooms of health and medical students to educate them about women’s diagnosis and their lived experiences.

•              WomenCan Supportive Research Nurse Grant Program helps women take part in clinical trials offering new treatments and provide follow-up care. Both metro and regional hospitals are encouraged to take part in the program designed to increase the number of trials and hospitals offering gynaecological cancer clinical trials to women in Australia and New Zealand.

The WomenCan Team Teal campaign is a partnership with the Harness Racing industry in Australia and New Zealand. The industry’s advocacy and support of Team Teal is a significant contributor to fundraising for women with ovarian cancer. The Harness Racing industry is proud of the contribution made by reinswomen and industry sponsors as it is one of the few sports with a balanced representation of women and men. This makes the support of ANZGOG, improving life for women with gynaecological cancer, very relevant.

Across six weeks in February and March each year, all reinswomen race in teal pants to raise awareness and much-needed funds for Team Teal when they secure first across the finish line. Our teal T-Shirts are a great way for the broader community to contribute to our fundraising efforts, whilst also spreading the word of Team Teal.
